Cannibal Women...
...in the Avocado Jungle of Death is actually a pretty smart movie. It's sort of a feminist Scary Movie. You need to be more familiar than I am with popular culture to understand all of the references thereto (as does The Simpsons, it has moments when I think a reference is being made but I don't know what it is). The ones I did understand range from campy to quite literary. It's one of the better silly movies out there.
Now that I've looked up her bio on imdb.com, I appreciate the casting of Shannon Tweed as the feminist ethnohistorian even more — especially her "I am not a chick" speech. The guy playing dean of her college has a hair style (gray and pumpkin-orange) reminiscent of the Univ. of Iowa's real live Dastardly Dean (Leslie) Sims's. And I swear one of the Piranha Women was Patricia Tallman (Babylon 5's Lyta Alexander) — does anyone know for sure?
