And the Minorer the Betterer
I loves me some Minor League Baseball. Sadly, what with the price of gas and the rush-hour consequences of urban sprawl, I haven't yet bothered to go see any of the three local teams. And I'm fortunate in that, of those three, one is AAA and two are A. I've seen AAA and A teams before, and I prefer the A teams. Those kids are still the long shots, they're still a bit rough around the edges, and you see plays that you'd never see in the majors. Plus, you're, like, inches away from the diamond.
It would be a lot easier to go see the local major league team, to which I object because of the stomping on local interests that it entails (MLB on the city's, and the city on the neighborhood's). And it would be a hell of a lot easier to watch the majors on TV. But that ain't gonna happen either, mainly because the majors are full of — I believe the technical term is 'whiny-ass titty-babies'. The majors aren't about baseball, they're about brands – player brands, team brands, the MLB brand – and the economic interests therein.
How else could it remain profitable for them to continue refusing to deliver a service that has been paid for in advance?
I'll just stick with romanticizing the minors from afar, thank you very much. Although I suppose I could listen to them on the radio, had the thought occurred to me before now.
