Movie Theater Popcorn

Word is that AMC Theaters are banning all outside food (which, you know, everyone already thought they did anyway, like every other theater in the country. So it probably won't make much difference).

Anyway, discussion of food sneaked into movie theaters ensued. One person mentioned sneaking a saltcellar in, so that they could continuously salt their popcorn as they descended into the bag. That struck me as silly, because doesn't movie popcorn come salted to within an inch of your life anyway? But butter...now that's another story.

It was nice when some theaters made the butter machine available so that you could butter your own popcorn to your heart's content. But that didn't solve the problem of getting butter on the popcorn at the bottom of the bag without supersaturating the popcorn at the top. The mention of the saltcellar jiggled some of my remaining neurons, though. Solution: squirt bottle! I have plastic squirt bottles at home for my cooking oil. If you take an empty one to the theater, you can fill it up with popcorn butter. Then, as you expose unbuttered popcorn in the tub, you squirt it with butter from the bottle.
